Flow Set Point Configuration

This menu provides options for setting flow rate minimum and preset values.

Carburize Minimum Endo Flow

When in %Carbon mode (not Nitriding or FNC), this sets the minimum endothermic gas rate into the furnace. Either or both valve 3 and 4 must be set to endo valve type in order for this feature to work. If the endothermic gas target setpoint for valve 3 or 4 is less than this minimum, then the setpoint is set to the minimum. The controller will check both valves 3 and 4 and adjust the setpoints independently, if needed. If the value for this option is set to 0, then the feature is disabled (not used).

Valve presets (applies to Carburize preset – N2, NH3, D.A., and H2 valves, and FNC preset – N2, NH3, D.A., and H2 valves)

In total, there are eight (8) presets for valve setpoints used when switching between %C and FNC modes. Valves 1 is assumed to be for N2, valve 2 for NH3, valve 3 for D.A., and valve 4 for H2.

Two basic principles are important for these options:

  • When switching from FNC mode to %C mode, the Carburize presets are used.

  • When switching from %C mode to FNC mode, the FNC presets are used.

The preset for each valve can have one of three conditions:

  1. The preset can be disabled, meaning the valve setpoint will not be changed.

  2. The preset can be set to current flow, which means that the setpoint will be set to the actual flow through the valve when the switch occurs.

  3. The preset can be set to a specific value, which will be applied to the specified valve when the mode switch occurs.

The presets are used only when the switch occurs from %C to FNC, or from FNC to %C. No changes to the valve setpoints will occur once the mode switch has taken place (unless the mode switches again).
